‘après Mira’

‘Après Mira’ mixed media collage 2013. I made this piece after visiting the Mira Schendel exhibition at the Tate modern. I layered old dress making patterns, adding handwritten and dry transfer text in between the transparent collage layers.

Really pleased with a new painting I’ve been working on, mixing rivot imagery with dress pattern collage. My painting experiments serve as studies for surface and patterning on my ceramic pieces.

getting started

stage 1 is to apply a thin layer of underglaze colour all over bisque ware surface, starting with a thin wash then buffing back to reveal the texture and details.
